Talk about, "from out of the ashes - came the Phoenix!!"

We had lost the last of our Weimaraners over a spate of three years, most notably my first show dog Gunalt Guess Who "Kea" 2 CC's and 1 RCC, who indeed produced my first homebred Show Champion Sh Ch Keaek Saale JW and subsequently Mark's dog Rockleyan Ringleader "Zulu" who was a dog of immense style and power, with an incredibly good working instinct, himself winning a number of Working Tests and being consistently placed in the Show ring and an outstanding and valued stud dog. In fact his name appears on more and more of the top winning pedigrees of today.

Although we had and continue to have Slovakian Rough Haired Pointers during this Weimaraner free period whom we absolutely adore, there appears to be no escape or substitute for these velvet grey bodies that have a habit of getting under your skin and we still desperately wanted another Weimaraner puppy, but were unsure and could not decide where to go for the working and showing lines which we both admired and wanted the most.

However out of the blue (or ashes), whilst perusing many litters and their pedigrees even after previously being informed that there were no litters due from this particular kennel we had a call from Ann and Tony who have produced brilliant dogs of dual purpose quality and that wonderful silver ghost colour since the 1980's. This Accredited Breeder at Wipfel Kennel knew exactly the lines we were after. Ann was so excited to inform us of a young six month old bitch coming back to them from owners who had totally underestimated and misunderstood this little girl`s quality; as it turned out, to their total and great misfortune.

Descending from both Mark and I's previous dogs this young Weimaraner was so perfect and wow! What a little stunner! Although having been left to her own devices and rather unruly at first and disobedient whilst out and about, she was, non the less absolutely perfecta mondo! (A true Phoenix).

Mark immediately set to with his basic training mainly for working purposes and she reciprocated by becoming his star pupil! Having proven to be extremely versatile excelling competitively in the field winning her first three Working Tests entered. This has spurred Mark on who is currently shooting over her with a view to Field Training this season.

As there are no ring craft classes close to our home Lexi's first experience and all subsequent appearances in the Show ring have indeed been her training. However, proving once again that one can have brains and beauty Lexi achieved her ShCM title gaining her Stud Book No in 2008 and again in 2009 she was awarded her first C.C at Southern Counties Champ Show. It doesn't actually stop there either as Lexi also holds a Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Bronze Certificate. She was also awarded the reserve CC at East of England Champ Show in 2010 under breed specialist Sandra Rawlinson

So you see Lexi really is our dream dog and a true testament to her breeders and most definitely our Phoenix I would say!
